Acidifiers and improving poultry digestion

According to researchers, acidifiers play various roles in the digestion and absorption of nutrients in poultry feed. These products, by lowering the pH of the poultry digestive system, increase the secretion of protein-digesting enzymes and reduce nitrogen excretion in the barn. Additionally, by increasing pancreatic secretions, they enhance the digestion and absorption of feed nutrients.

On the other hand, mineral absorption increases at a low pH. Consequently, the absorption of phytate phosphorus increases when using acidifiers in the poultry digestive system. Acidifiers, with their antibacterial properties, improve the microbial flora of the digestive system and prevent the formation of coliforms in the gastrointestinal tissue. In fact, by improving the morphology of the digestive system and increasing the absorption surface of nutrients, acidifiers enhance poultry performance.
